Mathis Moments: Trunk-Or-Treat

Donaven decided last fall that he wanted to be a penguin for Halloween.

I thought it would be fun to dress up as a family. What would go better with a penguin that Mary Poppins and Chimney Sweeps?

We set up a ring toss in the trunk with my spooky
ghost lanterns and passed out treats.

I manned the trunk and Brandon took the boys around collecting goodies. It was so much fun. I can't wait for next year. Starting to plan it as we speak! I hope you had a spooktakular Halloween!!!

Funny Stuff...

"Spiders, vultures, whats next? Wolves?!?" Renee experiencing the country life.

"Mommy can I hold you me?" Donaven when he needs a hug.

Look at all the bike-a-cycles mommy! -Donaven

Donaven got really excited one evening when Brandon got home. Looking at Renee he exclaimed, "Don't worry Renee he c/an be your daddy too."

"Mom look at all these cool bechatables." Mr. Tommy had left us a sack of squash on the front porch.

"Maaaa Maaaaa" (like a sheep) Emerson when he is tired

7/5/2011 Ready for bed I asked Donaven to scoot over and make room for me, he replied, "No Mom, you can have the floor." He was serious too!

7/9/2011 Donaven asked me, "Mom hand me your phone I need to write daddy a letter."

7/13/2011 Donaven begged to go to "ArmaDonalds" today. Moms not a big fan of McDonalds. He was pretty bummed with his PB & J at lunch time.

"I have a gift, stuffed in a van..." Donaven trying to sing I will Follow Gods Plan. The lyrics are suppose to go...My life is a gift, my life has a plan.

8/22/2011 During a difficult evening Donaven came up to me and said, "Don't cry Mommy, here call Daddy", handing me my phone. "He will buy you a new shirt and then you'll feel all better!" HaHaHa...that boy knows me a little to well....

10/2011 "Mommy, Daddys in Alabama so we can have food." -Donaven explaining where Brandon went for a few days.

11/2011 "But Mommy I didn't do it, brother pushed himself down." -Donaven

12/16/2011 11:30pm But mommy I'm so hungry, I haven't eaten all year...Can we please go to the store and get daddy cookies? -Donaven

1/4/2012 After receiving a hug from Emerson Donaven exclaimed, "Oh mom he really loves me! He is my best brother."

1/9/2012 "I can't see anything I'm not octurnal." Donaven while walking through the house late last night.

1/22/2012 After asking Donaven to go wash his hands he replied, "No mom I'm good I wiped the cookies off on my shirt."

2/2/2012 Emerson - "Fo ba lo googa mona cha me mo." Donaven - "Great Spanish brother!"

3/20/2012 Emerson's response to anything said to him, "Okaaay" with a long southern draw.

3/26/2012 Donaven can imitate Gargamel from Smurfs perfectly and he does so randomly throughout the day saying, "Azriel are you dead?" Then we both die laughing. It is our first inside joke.
