Fathers Day

For fathers day this year we got Brandon a gun safe. He went and picked it out and brought it home the week prior to fathers day. I still wanted him to have something unexpected on Sunday. The boys and I went out to Micheal's and bought the needed supplies. A white shirt, freezer paper, and fabric paint. I looked online for just the right image that Brandon would appreciate. A fun jeep with huge tires. Using a freezer paper stencil tutorial and our collaborative effort this is how it turned out...

Happy Fathers day Brandon! I love you and I am so thankful to have you to be the father of our children. Thank you for putting the boys to bed even though you still have a lot of work to do. Thank you for being patient and teaching
Donaven new things. Thank you for giving Emerson your undivided attention and just holding him when he needs his daddy. Most of all thank you for sharing it all with me. I'm the luckiest girl ever!

Here are my guys on fathers day. Sorry about the clothes-less baby....

Summer Goal

Brandon and I have decided to try to make it to the temple once every month this summer. This may not seem like a big deal to you,but we haven't been since Donaven was a baby. Way, way to long. Last Saturday we got the opportunity thanks to my wonderful sister, Angie. We decided the earlier the better so we got up before the sun got ready and quietly sneaked out leaving our sweet boys in the capable hands of their Aunt. On the way to the temple we were greeted by this majestic sunrise.

We arrived at the temple with a few minutes to spare before our session started. Allowing us to walk around the grounds and feel of the peace that accompanies being on such sacred ground.

The session was wonderful. I learned things I hadn't even thought of before. We were both filled with a comforting filling of peace and love. Brandon came to the decision that it was time to start looking for other employment opportunities where his safety wouldn't be at risk. It was exactly what we needed. I am really looking forward to going again next month.

After our session we took one more turn around the temple grounds not really wanting to leave and go out into the busy world again. The sun was well up in the sky and we didn't last outside for long in the heat. We did manage to snap a few last shots of us enjoying each others company.

Fabulous Finds

Over the weekend I found some really great deals at this garage sale we stopped at.

I got this really cute skirt for a
quarter!
I wore it to church on Sunday and got lots of complements.

Another steal was this beautiful teal purse, again only a
quarter!!
I can't wait for a girls night to actually try it out.

Lastly, I let
Donaven pick out something for himself. He chose this fun Mr. Potato Head set.
Best 50 cents I have ever spent!
He calls it his dress up tomato... It cracks me up every time.

Moral of the story.
Go to a garage sale mid day in Texas heat.
Walk away with some awesome deals!

Memorial Day

Monday morning we decided to go out just us. The rest of the cousins went out to a water park. We were pretty tired and decided to check out the local marina. We fed the ducks and tried a little fishing. Jealously watching others flock to there party barges and jet ski's. Maybe in a few more years...

Donaven loved watching the ducks play. He really enjoyed learning about fishing from his daddy. We didn't catch anything but it was still fun watching him cast his line out in the water and then beam up at us proudly.

It was still pretty windy so we brought a kite along and stopped off at fish creek park with its lovely open fields and tried out the new kite. Donaven ran his little heart out trying to get it up in the air. After a few attempts he gave up and begged to play on the near by playground. When we could stand the sun no longer we headed back to my sisters house and had a huge family lunch.

Emerson enjoying the patio of our tent.

Donaven and I eating our tasty s'mores.

(definitely time for a hair cut!!!)

Overall our cousin camp out was a success.
It was a very memorable day relaxing and enjoying each others company!

Fun in the Sun!

After getting in really late from the Ranger game we went back to my sister Angie's house and set up or tents in her backyard. We had our first ever cousin camp-out. Brandon was a real sport setting up our tent at midnight by moonlight. The next morning we loaded up 4 cars with 11 kiddos and headed for a fun filled day in the sun, at Joe Pool Lake.

The wind was really crazy. The boys spent most of the time under our umbrella seeking shelter from the sun and wind. The had a lot of fun playing in the sand with Daddy.

I got in the water a little bit but the waves were pretty high and the water was so cold. I didn't last very long. Brandon really enjoyed the water though.

Brandon and Paul persuading my younger sister Vicky, to give the water a try!

Rosy cheeked and covered in sand, we rounded everyone up and called it a day. Promising to come back again soon, hopefully not accompanied by a Lake Wind Advisory...
