Bleach Pen Tee

I have always been fascinated with the bleach pen tutorials out there, but never confident enough to actually try one. After accidently splashing some bleach on one of my favorite shirts I decided to throw caution to the wind and just go for it. What did I have to lose anyway right. The shirt was all ready ruined. The finished product wasn’t so bad for my first time.

Next time I will do a few things differently though like:

  • Not going back over my lines more than once. The lines end up not being as clean. Once is good enough.
  • Having a lighter hand helps
  • I will draw out my picture with chalk instead of just winging it, to make sure everything is placed where I want it.
  • Rinse bleach out quicker so fabric doesn’t become thinner in saturated bleach spots. It doesn’t have to sit very long.

Be warned this project is addicting with its instant gratification and the plus of  having a one of a kind item to enhance your wardrobe. Not to mention taking something destine for the trash and making it usable again. It makes my little eco loving heart happy. So if you are like me and secretly wanting to give this project a go, but afraid your artistic skills are not up for the challenge. Just try it you might be surprised at how easy it really is!

I see you!

The day my baby sister got married.

We snuck into her room before the ceremony and snapped a few photos. Isn’t she beautiful! And yes your eyes aren’t seeing things, Brandon is wearing his blue suit. It was a special request from the bride.

Here my Father is with his lovely wife Deb and all seven of his children. Victoria is the baby of the family. She was so happy to have all her siblings present for her special day.

The above pictures were all taken by the talented photographer Jean Carrion of Angry Black Bear Photography. To see the rest of his beautiful photos of the wedding click here.

Congratulations to the newlyweds Mr. & Mrs. Corder we love you both and wish you many years of happiness!

And just for fun here is a photo of my mismatched family during the reception.

Did you know…

that you can take these lovely fresh onions from the garden…0419121306

after you have used as many as you possibly can, and dice them up, put them in a glass jar and keep them from spoiling in the freezer.

I did not either. But I do now! I so enjoy throwing in a few fresh onions to spice up most dishes.

Train Day

Amtrak celebrated its 40th birthday this weekend and we got to be a part of the festivities. There were train tables, bouncy houses, face paint, snow cones, a fire truck, and much more.

Hi train!

“Hi train!”

There was even an exhibit on an actual train that we got to tour. The boys especially loved the car where you got to press several different buttons to hear different train horns.

Brandon and I would love to take the boys on an actual train ride in the near future. I think they would really enjoy it.

It was an awesome family outing and we will definitely be back next year!

Made by Me

I have been collecting a few projects to share with you. I had a lot of fun making them and thought you might like to see them too.

This one I made for a friends birthday earlier this year. It is a pretty simple felt and ribbon bookmark with stitching to add a little interest. Original idea found here with a complete tutorial.

Next is an up-cycled project made from baby clothes. The fabric is applied with iron on bonding and then sewn around the edge to secure in place. I gave these cute onsies to a lovely lady in our ward who just had a little boy.

Here is a closer look at each one.

I made this little tote a few weeks ago. This sewing project was a little more challenging but still a lot of fun. I originally saw the idea here with complete instructions and template. The only change I made was to add a handle so it could be used as a purse.

Lastly is this little recycled DVD case Art kit. I made it last weekend for a friend of Donaven’s that is in his primary class. I thought this was a really creative twist on the old crayon roll standby.  I especially liked that it held paper in the little inside clips  perfectly.

I lined a drawstring bag with my favorite flannel and it made a nice little reusable gift bag. You can find the tutorial for the Art kit here.

Well that’s a wrap for now. I would love to hear your thought on the projects! Thanks for reading…
