Visiting Santa at the mall.

On Tuesday we got the exciting opportunity to go with Donaven’s pre-k class to see Santa at the mall…I mean the north pole! Winking smile When Emerson and I caught up to Donaven we found him waiting patiently for his turn to meet the jolly big guy. He was was kind of excited when he finally notice we were there.

When his turn came up he bravely sat right down on Santa’s lap with a smile and let him know that he had been extra good this year.

Emerson put his foot down letting me know that he was not interested in sitting on Santa’s lap and I didn’t push. But I did request a photo in front of the beautiful tree.

Don’t they look so handsome! This is my new favorite photo of my sweet boys. Afterwards Santa kindly read the Night Before Christmas and passed out candy canes to each kiddo.

I let Donaven choose between riding the bus back to school or just coming home with us. He chose to stick with us and have a little fun window shopping. Of course we can’t make a trip to the mall with out stopping to ride on the bull and race car. 2012-12-11_14-28-52_770

First Day of Fall

I Heart Autumn

(cute pic courtesy of pinterest couldn't find the original source though)

It’s officially fall! And what did we do on the momentous occasion you may ask? Well we did what many other Texans did on this sunny 90 deg. day and darned our swimsuits, headed to the local splash pad and celebrated a friends 3rd birthday. We had a pretty good time together. My favorite part would have to be catching this rare moment on camera.

“Poor bruder you didn’t get a lolly pop from the pinyada, here have a yick of mine!” If that’s not love, I don’t know what is!

Wishing you and yours a lovely Autumn season and maybe just maybe we can will the cooler weather our way.

Lively Labor Day

labordayem

How is your day going? Ours has been quite enjoyable we met up with some family at the splash pad, tried out some new goggles, and soaked up a few rays. It’s Texas we can still do that here in September! When we got home we all enjoyed a round of nesquik and are just having a lazy afternoon waiting for Brandon to get home from his clinicals at the ER. For family night we will be watching the Lorax and popping some popcorn. I hope your Labor Day has been just as lively as ours.

We Survived…

The first week of school has come and gone and I think we are getting the hang of things. Donaven was so excited on the first day. He told me exactly what he wanted to wear, had his back-pack on and ready to walk out the door with time to spare. Naturally I clicked a few photos and Emerson wanted in on the action as well.

Donaven happily went into his class with his new friends and didn’t hesitate for a moment. When I picked him up later that afternoon he ran up to me and gave me a big hug and a smile.

Here are a few highlights from his week.

  • Getting to drink chocolate milk at lunch is the best part of his day. He told me he threw most of his lunches away but made sure to drink all of his chocolate milk.
  • Earning purple every day for good conduct which aloud him to pick a toy from the treasure box.
  • At the house center he made sure to steer clear of the baby dolls that weren’t dressed very modestly. As in no clothes at all.
  • Lastly he was so excited one day about getting to use the strange new “tee-tee” potty. (I had to really try hard to keep from laughing, he gets upset if he thinks your laughing at him.)

I am relieved things are going so well and hope his enthusiasm for school continues! I love you bud and it makes me so happy to see you happy!!!

Kids Bowl Free

My dear friend told me about this great summer program going on here where kids get to bowl free. So I signed the boys up and we gave it try. This was their first attempt at bowling and it was a lot of fun to see them get excited over their job well done!

I was a little nervous that Emerson wouldn’t be able to even pick up the ball but he was insistent on doing it by himself. I was impressed by his strength.

Aren’t they the cutest bowlers ever!

Not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon. We have a few more things to cross off our summer bucket list and we will be ready to welcome the coming of fall with open arms! Smile

(just a side note I did have to pay a few dollars for D’s shoes but $3 for two hours of fun was well worth it in my book!)

New Splash Park

Today we went to the new splash park in town. As I sat back and watched these two play I couldn’t help but smile. They are just starting to get to that age where they enjoy playing together. It was so sweet to see them hand in hand and laughing.

They probably went down this slide about 30 times together.

He was such a ham today, stopping and posing anytime he saw the camera in my hand.

Thank you splash park for a fun day in the sun! I am sure we will be back many more times to soak up what little summer we have left!!!

Donaven starts Pre-K in 3weeks!

Nature Walk

We woke up to a beautiful spring morning and did not want to waste to much time inside. We quickly had breakfast and found our shoes. Then set off down our usual path. We were first greeted by these two friendly geese on there way to the pond.

So many butterflies stopped on nearby flowers to say hello.0418121249 (640x480)

Our next detour was to the garden to check out the onions and potatoes.

The boys were pretty excited to see that our favorite berry patch had a few ripe and juicy blackberries just waiting to be our morning snack.0418121302 (640x480)

Down the road the field of dandelions were dancing in the wind inviting us to come and join them.

I hope this lovely spring weather stays for many more weeks and holds the summer heat at bay. We so enjoy being able to actually go outside and play!
